About Scott Alessi

Scott Alessi is a writer and editor living in Chicago and is currently the managing editor of U.S. Catholic magazine.

Scott has written on a wide variety of issues in the Catholic Church on the local, national, and international levels. He has been a regular contributing writer for the national Catholic weekly newspaper Our Sunday Visitor since 2007 and has written freelance articles for several other Catholic publications, including the Knights of Columbus’ magazine, Columbia, and the National Catholic Education Association’s journal, Momentum.

He has also worked for two diocesan newspapers; as a staff writer for The Catholic Spirit in the Diocese of Metuchen, N.J., and as online editor and later managing editor of The Monitor, newspaper of the Diocese of Trenton, N.J.

In addition to his writing work, he served for three years as a parish religious education coordinator in a vibrant, multi-ethnic parish community. In 2011, he was honored by the Catholic Charities Solidarity Team of the Diocese of Metuchen with the Rich Cunningham New Leader in Justice Award.
